As part of the official visit to Serbia, President of the Republic of Armenia H.E Dr. Armen Sarkissian visited Science Technology Park Belgrade today, got acquainted with the work of the first science technology park in Serbia and met some of the member companies.
The Armenian delegation was welcomed by acting director of the Science Technology Park Belgrade, Gordana Danilovic Grkovic, who expressed a great honor to the President of Armenia for visiting STP Belgrade and presented development path of the STP Belgrade. The visit was also attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, Mladen Sarcevic and the Minister responsible for Innovation and Technological development, Nenad Popovic.
Danilovic Grkovic pointed out that STP Belgrade was established in 2015, in the partnership of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, City of Belgrade and University of Belgrade, supported by the Swiss Government. Currently, there are more than 70 start-ups and growing tech companies, employing more than 700 highly educated engineers and creating the income of 20 million euro in 2018, out of which 60% came from export.
– A lot of innovations are being developed in STP Belgrade, from IT sector, food technology, smart cities, electronics, pharmacy, robotics and etc. Thanks to the development of supporting innovations and young entrepreneurs instruments, brain drain can scientifically be reduced and we can create a recognizable nucleus for the development of a knowledge-based economy.
Danilovic Grkovic emphasized that following such a results, STP Belgrade now has a proven model for transferring knowledge and experience that can significantly help the development of science technology parks in other regions, in a way to make these organizations capable of generating each year more and more innovations, higher number of start-ups and higher growth of employment and exports.
During his visit, H.E. Dr. Armen Sarkissian also visited STP Belgrade 3D Innovation Lab, while the companies NovelIC, Futuring, PirateArt and Anora presented their innovative technological solutions.
