How to get the million-dollar idea – An inspiring meetup with start-ups held at TMF

In what idea would they invest $ 1 million, students of technical colleges had the opportunity to decide last night at a meetup under the same name, held at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy (TMF) in Belgrade. Four start-ups, supported by the Business Technology Incubator of the Technical Faculties Belgrade (BITF), presented their innovative solutions: AlgiOx (smart air purifier), Gilab (precision agriculture solution), Easy Aeril (unmanned security systems) and Anora technologies (smart glove for the blind).
By applauding, students voted in which start-up would they invest money as investors.
Meeting at the TMF was organized on the initiative of BITF – founded by 4 technical faculties: Faculty of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and TMF. The aim was to point out examples of successful start-ups, some of which started developing their innovative ideas at one of the technical faculties, and to encourage students to take up technological entrepreneurship.
Gordana Danilovic Grkovic, Acting Director of STP Belgrade, pointed out that since its beginning, BITF supported more than 120 new start-ups and urged young people to contact STP Belgrade and BITF if they have an idea and want to develop it further. Students were also welcomed by TMF Dean Prof. Petar Uskokovic, pointing out the satisfaction and importance of organizing such events, which he believes will become a tradition.
The students were most interested in how to define target groups and reach the necessary market, what were the biggest challenges of start-ups during development and how to form a team of people around the idea. During the event, some of STP Belgrade and BITF support programs were also presented, aimed at start-ups and students interested in the start-up world – ParkUP! student camp, ImagineIF (for start-ups that innovate in healthcare), and Colosseum Sports Tech Serbia (support for innovation in sports technology).
