The International Conference Reinventing the World-the Power of Industry 4.0 opened today at Science-Technology Park Belgrade. Over the next two days, more than 15 top world lecturers and entrepreneurs will present the latest technological trends in the field of Blockchain, Internet of things, robotics, cyber security and education systems in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The Science Technology Park organizes the Conference Reinventing the World-the Power of Industry 4.0 with the support of the Government of the Swiss Confederation, through the project Science-Technology Park Belgrade – the new export instrument of Serbia.
Gordana Danilović Grković, acting director of STP Belgrade welcomed the guests, reminding that STP Belgrade has 65 companies and more than 600 engineers in the complex three years after its establishment.
Philippe Guex, H.E Ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia emphasized that innovative nature of the Science Technology Park Belgrade, makes it the perfect location to host the conference Reinventing the world – the power of Industry 4.0, which will provide a good basis for further development and promotion of Industry 4.0 in Serbia and of innovation in general.
– Innovation has always been one of the key success factors of the Swiss Economy, and through this conference Switzerland aims to promote Industry 4.0 and innovation among the private sector of Serbia. Industry 4.0 describes the current trend, which is characterized by the fusion of technologies, blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. This trend brings a lot of opportunities, but also new challenges and open questions. It is a development which concerns all of us, and we all are asked to stay open-minded, curious and innovative in order to use the fast technical development for our own purposes. Switzerland remains a committed partner for Serbia’s further development and innovation, and we are also looking into possibilities to support the transfer of the good practice model from the Technopark Belgrade to other regions in Serbia.
Sasa Lazovic, assistant Minister of education, science and technological development, also welcomed the guests, and pointed out that STP Belgrade is growing very fast, which is evidence of the potential of science. He said that Industry 4.0 includes numerous areas and activities – how to work, how to develop and how to learn, and that they are very important for the production. At the opening of the conference guests were greeted by Mihailo Jovanovic, director of the Office for Information Technologies and e-Government of the Government of RS, and Dragomir Petronijević, a member of the City Council of the City of Belgrade, too.
First speaker of the conference was Ivar Jacobson, “father” of software engineering, whose lecture “50 years of Software Engineering, now what?” draw a lot of attention. Katherine Foster spoke about how can Industry, government and startups collaborate to fully capture Blockchain innovation. Her presentation focused on sharing some insights from the successful approach, initiatives and pilots that her organization BLOC (Blockchain Labs for Open Collaboration) has developed.
Till the end of the first conference day the participants will also have the opportunity to hear Harry Cheung, founder and chairman of BVL (Hong Kong), Martina Ferracane, one of 30 innovators under 30 years on Forbes list, Alexander Bruner, author of the first book on Swiss ” Crypto Valley “, Mirko Ross, founder and CEO of Digital Worx.
The first day of the conference will be closed with the panel Reinventing the world – Journey to the future of tech and the second day of the conference is reserved for workshops.
