A New Boost for Serbia’s Digital Economy – CIPS, the New European Digital Innovation Hub, Launches in Serbia

As part of the pan-European EDIH (European Digital Innovation Hubs) network, Capital Innovation Point Serbia (CIPS), a newly established European Digital Innovation Hub, will, over the next four years, provide comprehensive support to startups and SMEs in Serbia on their path to digital transformation.
This support will include technical and mentoring assistance, training programs, connections with investors, and access to cutting-edge technologies.

The goal is to boost innovation-driven competitiveness, open new market opportunities, and enable stronger integration with European innovation ecosystems.

The CIPS project, co-financed by the European Union through the Digital Europe Programme, was officially launched yesterday at an online event attended by partners, business representatives, and members of the innovation community.

CIPS operates as a national network, coordinated by the Science Technology Park Belgrade, in partnership with NALED, the Science Technology Park Novi Sad, Data Cloud Technology, and the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad. Associated partners include the School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Belgrade and the Institute of Physics.

As part of the EDIH network, CIPS will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of Serbian companies, expanding their access to new markets, and deepening their connection with European innovation ecosystems. This opens the door for local businesses to tap into knowledge, tools, and resources that were previously accessible mostly to more developed markets, creating new opportunities for Serbia’s digital leap forward, as highlighted during the launch.

The project will provide technical and mentoring support, training in business and technical skills, as well as activities aimed at improving access to finance and promoting international growth.

A special focus will be placed on strategically important sectors such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital services, smart manufacturing, agritech, and medtech, further encouraging innovation in high-growth potential areas.

In addition to presenting the project and the opportunities it brings, the launch event spotlighted the role of women in digital transformation. It also included a panel discussion on the importance of support for the development of deep-tech and AI startups.
