Today at the Science Technology Park Belgrade Gordana Danilovic Grkovic, acting director of the STP Belgrade, opened the conference “Regional responses to global problems in cyberspace” and welcomed all the guests.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic, said that the establishment and development of information security at the national level can be realized fully only through activities that are simultaneously coordinated on a national and international level. She particularly emphasized the importance of cooperation with the OSCE and other international organizations.
“It is of great importance for Serbia’s participation of its representatives in the work of the Group of Governmental Experts for the development in the field of information and telecommunications in the context of international security in the convocation for the 2016/2017 year. By participating in the working group, our country wants to contribute to the establishment and development of international peace and stability in the application of information and telecommunications, “concluded the Secretary of State.
The introductory speech was given by the Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for Security Policy, Ambassador Branimir Filipovic, who in his speech pointed out that today’s cyber security, in addition to terrorism and energy supply is one of the most important global challenges we face.
“Therefore there is a need to achieve international consensus on rules of conduct in cyberspace and the fight against all types of its abuse,” said Filipovic.
The guests were welcomed by the Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia Andrea Oricio, a keynote speaker at the conference was the chairman of the Group of Governmental Experts of the United Nations 2016/2017. and coordinator for international cyber policy and cyber security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Karsten Geier.
The conference “Regional responses to global problems in Cyberspace” was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
