First winter student start-up camp ParkUP! was finished today at STP Belgrade. During 5 days, around 60 students went through 15 interactive lectures and workshops: from defining problems, target groups and solutions based on the Lean Startup methodology, through the development of presentation skills, public appearances and access to social networks. By participating in the program, students had the opportunity to go through the key steps in forming a successful startup and to meet with entrepreneurs, startup founders and mentors who have shared with them their own experience and advices for personal and professional development.
During the camp, 11 teams were formed, who in front of the expert jury today, pitched their ideas, on which they worked during the previous 5 days. In the end of the Demo Day, the best team was chosen: Alter 5, whose solution should provide cleaner air, and during the duration of the camp they managed to make even the first prototype. The winning team, among other things, was also awarded with a three-month support of STP Belgrade in further development of its idea.
Gordana Danilović Grković, Acting Director of STP Belgrade, awarded certificates on successfully completed training to all participants of the camp, congratulating them on great energy, enthusiasm and proactivity, which, as she pointed out, once again demonstrated the enormous potential of young people in Serbia in the field of innovation. She urged all participants not to give up their ideas and desire to change the world, adding that she is confident that many of them will continue their start-up path.
Startup camp ParkUP!, STP Belgrade organized with the support of the Swiss Government. Partners on the project were also the Business-Technology Incubator of the Technical Faculties in Belgrade, Center for Career Development UB, and STP Belgrade owes a great gratitude to the friends of ParkUP: Knjaz Miloš, Flixbus, Ferdinand knedle, Slatkoteka, RobRoy1884, Joks.
ParkUP! is the second start-up camp that the Science Technology Park organized to enable young academics to enter the start-up world and master the basics in developing a startup. The previous summer camp was held in July 2018, and the next students are expected the forthcoming summer.
