Fuelling innovation – An agreement on a joint project of the EU and the World Bank was signed in STP Belgrade

The European Union and the World Bank will back Serbian researchers and the start-up community in the country through a project worth 84.5 million euros.

An agreement that enables joint financing of Serbian researchers and the start-up community was signed today in the Science Technology Park Belgrade, in the presence of President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, President of the European Council Charles Michel, Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabić and Ministers Branko Ružić and Jadranka Joksimović.

The delegation met several companies that are being developed in the STP Belgrade, whose projects are supported through the Innovation Fund, with the support of EU. charge&go, Anoris technology, Pirate Art, and Desing presented to the high delegation their innovations.

The joint EU and World Bank project called “Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship” (SAIGE) will be implemented by two national institutions, which will be responsible for the allocated funds: the Innovation Fund and the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.
The EU donates for this project EUR 41.5 million while the World Bank provides a credit of another EUR 43 million. The contract signed today has a value of EUR 28 million.
