Business Challenge Western Balkans is a three-day competition of high school students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatian, Serbia and Montenegro, which encourages students to think creatively, analyze, plan, and all through teamwork. By developing their communication and presentation skills, students gain confidence and develop the idea of “zero” business plan until they become aware of their options and so enhance their entrepreneurial spirit. Also, the competition highlights the importance of connecting young people living in the Western Balkans and be aware of the necessity of joint activities at the regional level.
Teams composed of 4 students from different countries, devising business idea as a response to your “challenge”, create a business plan and prepare PowerPoint presentation. Students are arranged so that team members do not know each other, but the challenge is to create a common business idea even more interesting. During operation, each team has a laptop and access to the necessary information through the Internet, and business volunteers is there to help with advice, suggestions and experience. On the third day of the competition, the teams out before the multi-member jury and the audience in the Science Technology Park, and represent their idea of a best rated teams receive awards.
This competition is realized for the fifth year in a row, and after Belgrade (2013), Sarajevo (2014), Podgorica (2015) and Zagreb (2016), the host city is Belgrade again, from 22nd to 24th of April .
The competition is organized by Junior Achievement, a member of the largest global entrepreneurship education program Junior Achievement Worldwide and supported by the US Embassy in Belgrade, Balkan Trust for Democracy, the US Agency for International Development, the company Telekom Serbia and the Science Technology Park Belgrade.
