On the occasion of the first IMAGINE IF! competition for health-tech startups in Serbia, the first official meeting Meet & Greet will be held on Tuesday, February 4th. Event will gather the finalists of competition, mentors, as well as experts in the field of health and industry.
Representatives of the Global Entrepreneur Program (GEP), the UK Government’s flagship programme for attracting world class entrepreneur founders and innovative businesses in UK, will also be present as special guests.
First IMAGINE IF! local competition in Serbia is organized by Innovation Forum Cambridge in cooperation with Science Technology Park Belgrade (platinum partner) and Health Tech Lab (silver partner). It caused a lot of attention to the startup community in Serbia – more than 20 applications arrived and the program will involve about 40 local mentors who will work with domestic startups. Meet & Greet will be the first official meeting within participants will get in touch with each other for the first time, exchange experiences and advises that will help them to develop their ideas. That’s why the presence of representatives of UK Government will be even important.
The event will be attended by Derek Goodwin, head of UK Government’s Global Entrepreneur Programme (Department for International Trade, DIT), who is responsible for all DIT’s entrepreneurship programmes aimed at providing hands-on mentoring to help entrepreneurs scale and grow, as well as attracting high potential, tech-based entrepreneurs and venture capital into the UK. There will also be Anthony Sheehan, dealmaker at Global Entrepreneur Programme, who works with start-ups, university spin-offs and growing enterprises from across Europe, North America and Africa, founder of 4 companies.
Since 2005, the GEP has relocated nearly 1000 founders in UK, creating over 1000 companies and over £1.5bn raised in VC and angel investment.
Deadline for applications for IMAGINE IF! program is midnight January 15th, 2019. After that, up to 10 best startups will be selected to pass the mentoring program and fight for the title of the local winner. The Belgrade winning team will receive EUR 2,000 of funding, as well as the opportunity to participate in the global IMAGINE IF competition in London, where they’ll fight for $ 10.000.
The local final in Belgrade will be held on March 7, 2019 at Science Technology Park.
